Tips for New Royal Caribbean Cruisers

Embarking on a cruise is a thrilling experience, full of adventure and relaxation. To ensure your journey is smooth sailing from start to finish, here are some essential tips and creative insights to enhance your cruise adventure.

Pre-Cruise Preparations

Before your trip, make sure to log on to RoyalCaribbean.com for online registration and account creation.

  • Download the Royal Caribbean App

  • Once you receive your email that Check-in is live, you’ll want to be sure and check in as soon as possible for the earliest boarding time.

  • Shows and reservations will populate on the app around 45 - 30 days before your cruise, for cruises that require reservations. Be sure to set an alert for yourself to check, they are not always consistent with being right at 45 days.

  • Check your dining time and table size to make sure it is to your preference

  • Research performances, show times and other dining experiences to decide what things you’d like to do!

Print your Set Sail Pass and bring it along with your passport or other governmentidentification.

Embarkation Day

Upon arrival at the port, you will check your luggage with a porter to be taken to your room. If you choose not to, you’ll have to lug it all around the ship until your room is ready around 1pm. It is kind, but not expected, to tip these porters.

Your carry-on will be carried with you, like at the airport. Keep your documents and ID handy, you’ll need them for check in and security. Your carry-on will be your day bag and include things you'll need with you, outside of your luggage.

Pack your carry-on with essentials like swimwear, sunscreen, and any medication, as your checked baggage will arrive at your room later in the day.

Day bag Essentials

  • Sunscreen

  • Swimwear

  • lanyard

  • $1 Bills: Handy for tipping porters and room service.

  • medications

5 Steps once you board the ship:

  1. Participate in the muster drill, your muster station will be listed in your app, and you can use the map to find your spot. There are plenty of staffers onboard to help guide you.

  2. Find some lunch at Windjammers, the buffet.

  3. Get familiar with the ship by visiting all the open houses. Most amenities will be available for your use as well.

  4. If you have a drink package with souvenir cup, they will be available at any bar. Just ask!

  5. Check the time for your sail away party and head there to celebrate.

Getting into your room:

There will be a ship-wide announcement once all rooms are ready. You can head there whenever you like after that. Your luggage and SeaPass cards should be there ready for you!

Once in your room:

  • Your lights may need a card inserted by the door for operation. Most any card will do.

  • Look for your paper schedule of events, if you don’t have one, you can ask your stateroom attendant who will be around in the halls.

  • Unpack, settle in and check you have enough towels and pillows, hang your fancy clothes

  • Check your seapass cards on your door

Departure Details

On the last morning, disembarkation begins early. You’ll receive a disembarkation time on your app so be sure to look out for that. You can put your luggage out at night to have it picked up and moved for you. Or you can pull it out on your own. Either option is fine.

You’ll want to plan enough time for breakfast before you get off the ship! Double check your flight times and transportation pick ups.
