Lightning Lane Premier Pass or VIP tour?

With the release of the Lightning Lane Premier Pass, you may be wondering what the cost would be vs. just taking a day with a a VIP tour guide.

Let’s break it down!

The Premier Pass is new and in a testing phase, at WDW it is only available to Deluxe Disney Resort Guests, Swan and Dolphin and Shades of Green. It allows you to ride each ride one time utilizing the Lightning Lane without booking a time slot. You can not park hop with this pass right now. It also includes attraction photos. You may purchase the pass seven days prior to check-in at 7am eastern time for your length of stay up to 14 days. The prices starts at $129 at Animal Kingdom and ranges in price up to $449 at Magic Kingdom, plus tax, per person.

What is a private VIP tour?

Great question! Disney offers private VIP tour guides on an hourly basis with a minimum of 7 hours and max 10 hours. This option is customizable for your start time and rides, park hopping, a personal guide, for up to 10 guests. This option begins at $450 per hour.

Which should I choose?

Lets consider one family of five for Magic Kingdom at the lowest current price for each.

Premier Pass:
$329 per person = $1645 for one day at MK

  • LL entry for most rides all day

  • no park hopping

VIP Tour:
$400 per hour 7 hours = $2800

  • LL entry all rides

  • Park hopping

  • private guide

  • tip for guide

  • customizable

There is a significant price difference, but also a significant offering difference. Now, if you’re on a multi generational family trip that includes 10 people, it would 100% be worth getting a VIP tour for your group.

Also, all of this is on top of your ticket purchase. So, for the Premier Pass, you’d only need one park per day, the VIP tour requires a Park Hopper ticket for park hopping.
